My name is Yusef, and I'm
an illustrator, graphic designer,
& full-stack software developer!
About
I'm a visual/graphic artist and musician who grew up with technology, so making the leap to full stack software engineer was a no-brainer. Specializing in the MERN stack, I bring an "outside-the-box" creative viewpoint to any project for a fresh, much needed alternative perspective. I studied at General Assembly working on projects solo and with a small development team. While I have learned a lot, I know more that I have much to learn and look forward to being a life-long student.

YouTube
Channel Production and Development
August 2015 - Present
I've worked on a wide variety of projects for various channels spanning the spectrum across all genres and sizes. Projects ranged from simple digital ad banners to full-fledged music videos with original music and footage. A few notable YouTube brands I've completed projects for: TJ Kirk, The Amazing Atheist, The Drunken Peasants Podcast, SINNIK, among others. Other project work I've completed on a much smaller scale includes creator channel assets and marketing materials (banners, end-cards, thumbnails, logos, etc.). designs.
Self employed
Music Producer and Composer
July 2019 - Present
What started long ago as a hobby suprisingly turned into a money making opportunity when Soundcloud invitied me into their multiplatform distribution program (monetarily based on total global views per month). I dont make anywhere near a fortune from it, but to earn ANY money from a such a fundamental lifelong passion such this is still mindblowing to me! My tracks are featured and monetized on all major digital music platforms, including YouTube Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Pandora
Creative Director
STEditor.com
April 2022 - December 2023
As my first "big boy job" this position requires quick and efficient website contruction, using primarily the in-house website-builder (drag and drop style). Another large aspect of this job is direct sales, as it was a small business operated mainly by me and two other individuals. As perfect as the job seemed at the time, I wasn't able to flex my creative muscles, and a lot of time ended up wasted because of lack of sales, among other things. However, in the processl, I learned many valuable lessons. The startup recently went out of business (lack of capitol), so I'm currently seeking full time software development employment.

Recent Work
Here are some of my recent projects. Check back often as they are updated frequently!
First React App
This was officially my first published site of all time. A simple React app, this project was about one month into my coding journey. On the project, we were required to make an app that utilized a free API and used its data creatively. React was not required but encouraged. It was quite the (frustrating!) but eye opening and necessary part of my coding journey!

TUNEage
This full stack web app (complete with front and backend, as well as a Django database), was my attempt at an all-in-one app solution for modern musicians on the go. Although all features are still under development, the app features: A user-generated artist database; a lyrics archive similar to Genius; a browser compatible 'digital audio workstation', with fully-functioning 'drum rack' and 'piano roll', as well as a native media player that overlays lyrics onscreen!

Articlr
For our first (and only) group project, we contructed our first full stack website! We decided on making a blog/social media type site, and in the end it was fully functional, with user credentials and real-time post updates! (Unfortunately, the original server is down as it belonged to a classmate, but the project repo remains, click 'project link' above to access project reository).

Who Wants to be a Trillionaire?
Another project from very early on, this basic quiz website was an exploration of Javascript and the basics of React.js. Take the quiz IF YOU DARE! (link above^)

"Gold (Stupid Love" Remix
I'm pretty proud of this song, even though the view counts weren't initially spectacular. I used a homemmade acapella track of the woman's voice, and created the entire layered instrumental track, mixed and mastered it, and edited the lyric music video to fit in sync with the words. Made with Ableton Live Suite and Adobe Premier Pro.
